IIPH - Assistant Professor (Hyderabad/Bhubaneswar/Bengaluru ) (PHFIIPHS-2026-AP-001)

 Brief on the Organization:  The PHFI Institute of Public Health Sciences (PHFI–IPHS), Deemed to be University, is India’s premier institution dedicated exclusively to advancing education, research, and practice in public health notified under the Distinct Category of UGC (Deemed to be Universities) Regulations 2024.  Rooted in the distinguished legacy of the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI), the University builds upon more than a decade of pioneering work carried out by the Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) established across the country. The Deemed University currently encompasses the campuses at Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Bhubaneswar, while PHFI’s other institutes — including IIPH Gandhinagar, IIPH Delhi, and IIPH Shillong — continue to strengthen the broader national public health network.  Together, these institutions form a pan-India ecosystem of teaching, research, capacity building, and policy engagement. Job Requirements: 

  • Develop and deliver lectures, tutorials, and seminars on Digital Health.
  • Mentor and guide students in academic projects, dissertations, and research work. 
  • Conduct independent and collaborative research projects, securing research funding and grants.
  • Publish research findings in high-quality peer-reviewed journals and present at academic meetings. 
  • Contribute to curriculum development and enhancement of teaching methodologies.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on public health projects.
  • Participate in institutional activities, academic committees, and community engagement program 
  • Travel as per requirement 
  • Any other tasks as assigned and delegated by the Supervisor 
Qualification and Experience:   
Essential: 
  • A Master’s degree in Digital Health / Public Health / Epidemiology / Biostatistics / Health Informatics / Health Data Science/ Biostatistics or a related discipline, with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed) from a recognized Indian university, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university. 
  • Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET or who are or have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission. 
Provided further, candidates registered for the Ph.D. programme prior to July 11, 2009, shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing Ordinances / Bye- laws / Regulations of the Institutions awarding the degree and such Ph.D. candidates shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions, subject to the fulfillment of the following conditions: - 
a) Ph.D. degree of the candidate awarded in regular mode only; 
b) Candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D. work out of which at least one must be in a refereed journal; 
NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET. 

Desirable: 
  • Ph.D. in in Digital Health / Public Health / Epidemiology / Biostatistics / Health Informatics / Health Data Science or a related discipline 
  • Evidence of research publications, preferably including publications from Ph.D. work, with at least one in a referred journal. 
  • Experience in digital health systems, surveillance systems, health data analytics, AI/ML in public health, or implementation of digital interventions, and big data analytics. 
  • Experience in guiding postgraduate students.
